Use our eligibility checker to determine if you need to apply for a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before your trip. The checker will also help you understand when you should submit your application.
The MDAC is a mandatory requirement for most foreign visitors entering Malaysia. However, certain travelers may be exempt based on their citizenship or visa status.
Malaysian citizens returning to Malaysia are exempt from the MDAC requirement. They can enter the country using their Malaysian passport without completing the digital arrival card.
Holders of valid long-term passes such as Employment Pass, Professional Visit Pass, Dependent Pass, Student Pass, and Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) are exempt from the MDAC requirement.
Passengers in transit who do not pass through Malaysian immigration (remaining in the transit area of the airport) are not required to complete the MDAC.
It is necessary to apply for your MDAC within 3 days before your planned arrival in Malaysia. This allows sufficient time for processing and approval.
MDAC applications are usually processed within minutes, but during peak travel seasons, they may take up to 24 hours, with 1–2 business day delays being rare.
You should complete the MDAC as soon as possible, as it can usually be processed within minutes to hours, and contact the nearest Malaysian embassy or consulate only if you encounter submission issues.
